General Information

Fitness

The tours require a reasonable level of fitness in order to fully enjoy this cycle holiday. The country is undulating but offers pleasant cycling with quiet roads and shady woodland.

As with any sporting activity it will require physical exertion, although the rides are moderate in length and the full day is available with plenty of lovely resting places along the way.

If in doubt about your capacity to undertake such a tour, or if you have not had regular exercise then you should gain advice from a doctor as to your capacity to take part in such an activity.

Insurance

All participants are required to take out travel and medical/health insurance with full cover.

Clothing

Most riders prefer to wear cycle shorts with a chamois seat and a cycle jersey or vest, bring at least two pairs of shorts, also we advise that helmets are best worn by all riders for obvious safety reasons, shoes are the choice of individuals and should you wear cycle shoes and and have a preference for clip-less pedals then bring these with you as our bikes are fitted with standard pedals and clips.

Rain jackets are also a good idea but in our experience most rain here falls in the evening.

As temperatures can vary here bring some lightweight clothing that can keep you comfortable should the weather become cooler or warmer.

Sun creams, and moisturizers are also a good idea and better brought with you as they are expensive in France.

Weather here is really quite lovely it is drier than other areas and because of the altitude cooler in the evenings. The region is an undulating plateau of between 600 and 700 meters above sea level.

Bikes, pedals

We supply excellent quality French touring bikes that are light and comfortable. Should you wish to bring your own bike, or saddle etc then do so and we can set your bike up here. If you are traveling by plane you need to seek advice from your airline as some charge for this service and have particular packing requirements. Trains in France carry bikes but you should check this on booking as there are limits on some days as well as on some trains as well as requirements for packing bikes.
